About the Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff)

A superb guard dog, the Cane Corso is best known for it's loyalty to family and innate ability to discern friend from foe.  When the instinct dictates, the Cane Corso will quickly transform from aloof and mild-mannered to a fiercly protective and often terrifying protector of his territory and family.

The Cane Corso fits in well with children; protective yet gentle and instictively aware of a child's helplessness and innocence. With a strong sense of territory, he will typically stay on his grounds, basking in the loving attention of his family and forming intense bonds with the same.

Socialization is an absolute must for the Cane Corso, as they are dominant in nature and seldom back down from a challenge.  It is incredibly important to note that the Cane Corso was originally bred as a guard dog and possesses a high level of athleticism, bred domestically only as recently as 1988.
